There are about four waking hours today and maybe one tomorrow before I’m off to hospital, so I’m taking the easy way out for today’s post. As I mentioned in previous posts, one of my weekend assignments was the Shooting Star Charity Ball at the Stardust Ballroom. Probably the friendliest charity ball I’ve ever been too, it was also fun photographically (with me you can read that as challenging) due to the hugely variable light sources dotted throughout the room.

Although I’ve taken lessons in ballroom and Latin dance I didn’t feel good enough to be able to join in. In one way that was a shame because everyone really was friendly, but in another it’s probably just as well. I was already exhausted from two full days of shooting and there was little enough time for me to get both images and talk to enough people to get the quotes I needed for the piece. That said, learning ballroom and Latin dance has moved up in my list of priorities as to dance as well would have been really good fun.

Also, of course, the better I know a dance, the better I can photograph and write about it.
