jazz workshop story

Sean Graham with some of his students

Dance workshops can be challenging. Often in the evening, the light is rarely good, flash photography and sprawling or climbing all over the place might distract the students and while it’s possible to get a visually arresting image, it’s more difficult to get it to give an idea of what really went on.

In this shot I concentrated on Sean’s interaction with his students and waited for a moment that showed both the kind of moves he was teaching and of their responses to him and the moves they were learning.
