Los Ocampos dancing on London Bridge

The tube was horrendous last night, when I travelled home from a production of Wah Wah Girls at the Peacock Theatre. It was as busy as the worst of the rush hour and there wasn’t even enough space for me to read my book. It’s normally possible anticipate when public transport might be this bad and choose whether to avoid it or not, but it looks as if this Jubilee Weekend is providing us with a taste of things to come.

This morning, surprised to discover that the appalling crush has left my enthusiasm for the Jubilee weekend undimmed, I decided to share a Londoner’s view of a patriotic tango shot. Taken in 2008 in a silent tango flashmob to commemorate the London Bombings, this shot of Omar Ocampo and Mónica Romero, or Los Ocampo as they’re more often known. Lovely people as well as genuine tangueros, this couple, who travel the world performing and teaching tango, are some of the first of whose images I was sufficiently satisfied with to feel able to share, way back in 2007.
