Dancers of the UWI Dance Ensemble
The UWI (University of the West Indies) Dance Ensemble gave a lively and balletic performance at the Tricycle Theatre in London.
What a great time to be in London! I’m almost regretting going away. The opportunity to see national dances over the next couple of weeks is fantastic, as each country sets up a base from which they’ll be showcasing the best of their countries and cultures to as many of the Games Visitors as they can.
For various reasons I missed the press nights for South Africa House, Brazil, The Netherlands, Belgium and Dominica, but I did get to the opening of Trinidad and Tobago which included excellent food, interesting Trinidadian-themed cocktails and a huge full length cultural show.
This group performs all over the UK and further. Watch out for them at the Notting Hill Carnival.
My previous post on the launch of the Trinidad and Tobago Cultural Village is here.

“trompe l’oeil”
Is that not French for “Pulling ze wool over ze eyze”?
Hahaha.
It was skillful dancing which after all represents a greater truth and anything else would have been less of a performance. If I have the time I’ll find the photographs to show it 🙂
