The Death Of Hippolytus
This image, which I took today, shows Ihsaan de Banya as Hippolytus in the death scene, part of Richard Alston Dance Company‘s new work which will premier tomorrow (November 6th) at the Barbican, who commissioned it for its Barbican Britten season.
Richard Alston has always been one of my favourite choreographers, and his work to Benjamin Britten’s Phaedra involves ten dancers and the mezzo-soprano Allison Cook who has taken the part Benjamin Britten wrote for Janet Baker in 1975.
Although we didn’t get to shoot or see anywhere near enough of his work for me to review it (even in part – this was a very short photocall even as compared to other short photocalls) I still enjoyed it* – and loved the lighting.
Go!
*except for the behaviour of some of the other documentary photographers, which might make another post.
