Getting arty with One Youth Dance
Saturday was enormous fun, the first of two days shooting for Joanna Shaw of One Youth Dance (who I also have a commission to write about for the March issue of Dance Today). It’s a great organisation and Joanna Shaw has achieved an amazing amount, but you’ll have to get Dance Today (buy one or go to Move-It where they’ll be given out) to hear more.
Joanna’s brief was quite varied and included getting some good shots of the teachers at work, the class in action and the story of the rehearsals and school, but since I expected to be there for a good six hours there was also time to do as many other shots as felt appropriate.
It’s interesting that Joanna asked what light I needed. I’m happy to work with whatever is there – with so much of my shooting done in good light the shoot was already technically easy by virtue of being in a room with big windows in daylight.
Aluette came along and it was a wonderful way to spend the day, partly for the company and also because it is only while I’m taking photos that I’m able to forget the excruciating pain of this dislocated rib.
I’m no way near finished processing them yet. These are a few of my favourites so far.
