The Photographer’s Duende
Part of what I love about photography is reviewing the shots I’ve taken, reliving the feelings and developing the thoughts I had while taking them and appreciating anew the enthusiasm, character, individuality, art and skill of the people I’ve photographed. It’s a kind of zen state, a photographer’s duende. Put simply, when it goes well it’s as if everything else has stopped. Everything else is forgotten. It’s a comfortable state, an all-too-easy retreat when other parts of life are challenging. Something I’m careful to resist.
