Botis Seva’s Far From The Norm in H.O.H. at The Place, (c) Carole Edrich 2014

A facebook friend used the word ‘diacritics’last week which prompted me to decide to represent its meaning in the form of a photograph on #WordyMonday. For those who don’t know what it means (I didn’t), diacritics are marks, points or signs placed above or below to a letter to change it’s perceived or actual phonetic value or ‘for other reasons’.

I thought this image taken of Botis Seva’s choreography of H.O.H represented the word nicely, since the person seen as a blur at the back of the stage could be considered a diacritic for either. I have enhanced the noise in the shot (it was taken at ISO 3200), partly to add to its ambiguity for this post and partly because I think it looks better.
