Another random word from Luciferous Logolepsy, this #WordyMonday word represents maneads (which I’ve interpreted as wildly excited, frenzied or raging women). Havana Rakatan itself does have some scenes with raging women, but in all I found it very disappointing.

Having missed Havana Rakatan when it has come to London before, I went to the photocall looking forward to a riot of colours, wonderful dancing and an entertaining production and was thrilled to hear we’d be allowed to shoot through the entire dress rehearsal. The costumes are lovely, each dance style easy to recognise and the characters wonderfully outrageously loud. However the unremittingly frenetic pace made it increasingly difficult for me to appreciate the virtuosity of the dancers and I lost sympathy with the production itself to the extent that I chose to leave half way through rather than staying to shoot the entire thing.
