Following a research trip to the Homowo festival in Ghana, this solo is inspired by the story of the migration of the Ga tribe from Israel to Ghana hundreds of years ago and making a connection with biblical references in Reggae music. With a focus on spiritual dance, Cleo combines abstract dance, African and Caribbean movement based choreography with explosive and emotional improvisiation
I think these photos support the text well. Individually, the first one strikes me with the belt she is wearing. All, but especially the last two, have a lot of dynamic energy, illustrative of the dance. After the first photo, the middle one speaks to me the most. Her stance is powerful. I am not sure what makes the third less appealing, though I do not like the yellow color tone on her skin.
