I chose the word ‘meticulous’ for this week’s #wordymonday word for a very particular reason, although if you weren’t there you’ll need the following explanation. I was recently lucky enough to be asked to shoot an encuentro by two friends, one of which is in the image about. I’ve not attended one before, but it seems to me that the success of such an event depends on two things; those who attend and the organisers’ attention to those details that give the event its character and – more important – make people feel welcome and comfortable right from the start.

I don’t think the two organisers could have done better, their meticulous preparation paid off. There are too many details to list, but they included special markers for peoples’ glasses so they didn’t get confused, bright red angel wings for staff and loads of welcoming, friendly hugs. I sincerely hope this will become a regular annual event and that I’m invited to shoot there again.
