I chose the word sententious because of the experience I had on Monday when I went to Parliament to photograph MPs learning to dance. Only the third time dance has been performed in parliament (I was told it was the second but that person forgot the Dance In Parliament festival), and part of the launch of the issue of DanceUK’s manifesto “Dance: A Great British Success Story, How politicians can support dance, a Lindy Hop lesson was being held”. Although I went primarily to get a shot of Jenny Thomas and Robin Windsor giving a beginners’ dance lesson to the MPs and everyone else, the journalist in me wanted a couple of pithy take-away phrases around which I could have pitched an article.

Strangely, that didn’t happen. Maybe they were all having too much fun or maybe they’re saving it for the election. As far as I was concerned neither the politicians nor DanceUK were sententious enough!
