In a New York Times interview which was published 31st March 1985, Martha Graham said “Dancing is just discovery, discovery, discovery. I’ve chosen it as a quote to go with this shot of Varmints (you can see the production at the Sadler’s Wells Family Weekend on April 3rd and 4th) partly because today is March 31st and partly because she died on April 1st, 1991.

The production Varmints, choreographed by B-Boy Wilkie Branson in collaboration with children’s theatre director Sally Cookson, is based on the award-winning book by Helen Ward and Marc Craste’s illustrations. It runs in the Lilian Baylis Studio, Sadler’s Wells, on both 3 and 4 April and then goes to Newcastle, Stockton, Ipswich, Cambridge, Salford, Inverness and Glasgow and is back in London at Stratford Circus towards the end of April and then at the artsdepot on May 8th and 9th.
