This week’s inspirational dance quote by George Balanchine is; “First comes the sweat. Then comes the beauty if you’re very lucky and have said your prayers” Four Quartets it is considered to be one of the greatest ever works of mystical poetry. I’ve written a little about George Balanchine in my book The Joy of Dance (see below). He was a demanding teacher, he pushed his students past what they believed they could do. In doing this he made them understand it didn’t matter if, in trying, they failed but it did matter if they didn’t dance to their utmost, holding nothing back.
