See the music, hear the dance.

Quote by George Balanchine and image from the Wam Bam club
The dance quote for this week, by George Balanchine, is “see the music, hear the dance”. In 1924, when leaving the newly formed Sovet Union – even for a short time – was exceptionally difficult, Balanchine and four other dancers (Tamara Geva, Alexandra Danilova and Nicholas Efimov) were given permission to tour Western Europe. All four dancers were invited by impresario Sergei Diaghilev to audition for his Ballets Russes in Paris, were accepted into the company and never returned to the Soviet Union.
I will be posting a dance photograph and dance quote and a little related history every Friday this year. If you would like your favourite quote included then please let me know.
