Hand In Hand on the edge of the sand..

Quote from Edward Lear and shot of Richard Alston Company dancing the Britten Sinfonia
The week’s dance quote, familiar to many, ‘Hand in hand on the edge of the sand, they danced by the light of the moon’ is by Edward Lear (1812-1888). A British painter and poet, he started work as an at the age of 15. Lear had been forced to earn money to support the family from the age of 13 as his father, a stockbroker, had been sent to debtors’ prison.
I will be posting a dance photograph and dance quote and a little related history every Friday this year. If you would like your favourite quote included then please let me know.
