Great Dancers..

Dancers of Cathy Marsden’s Witch-hunt and quote by Martha Graham, (c) Carole Edrich 2011-5
“Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they’re great because of their passion” a dance quote by Martha Graham (1894-1991). During the early 1930s, Martha Graham concentrated on emotional themes such as the piece ‘Lamentation’. Scholar Elizabeth Kendall wrote that it was ‘both a piece about the emotion of grief and a visual homage to contemporary architecture.’ By also describing Graham’s movement as ‘a skyscraper reeling’ she revealed both of Graham’s aesthetic drivers.
I post a dance photograph and dance quote and a related fact or two every Friday. If you would like your favourite dance quote to be included let me know.
