This week the inspirational dance quote attributed to Twyla Tharp is; ‘People often say to me “I don’t know anything about dance”. I say, “stop. You got up this morning, and you’re walking. You are an expert.”

Born in 1966, Twyla Tharp formed her eponymous dance company which temporarily disbanded in 1989. At this time she joined the American Ballet Theater to work as Mikhail Baryshnikov’s artistic associate, and in 1984 her TV special Baryshnikov by Tharp earned  two Emmy Awards. In 1989 she left and transferred her productions to the Boston Ballet and Hubbard Street Dance Company. She published an autobiography in 1992.
