Christine Mc Connell, Angel of Wanstead, on a very sad day

Christine, Angel of Wanstead

Christine Mc Connell, Angel of Wanstead

I’ve posted this Angel having just come back from Christine’s husband’s funeral which reflected what I know of him – and Christine – well, in that it covered his passions, his humour and his steadfast adherence to what he believed was right.

That both Christine and our community has lost a thoughtful, fun and lovely person was born out by conversations before the service and at the wake. I met people who said he had done them quiet favours, others who talked of his sense of humour and love of horses and more who were too upset to talk about him at all.

Instead of flowers the family asked for donations and the money will be split between the British Heart Foundation and a cancer charity. If you would like to donate I’d suggest you leave money with a note at the British Heart Foundation shop on the high road.

I’d like to say that if I had known how many people thought so highly of him I would have written him up as an Angel too, but am pretty sure he would have suggested others who he considered more deserving.

You can read my original article here.

I hope that this blog post doesn’t offend anyone and am sorry that it is so clunky, but I wanted to get it up today.
